Structural Design Engineer - REF (m/f/d)

Your responsibilities
  • Lead the structural design and development of refrigerator body, functional parts (e.g., hinges, handles), and accessory parts (e.g., shelves, drawers), ensuring durability, performance, and user-centered design.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, industrial designers, and manufacturing teams to create innovative, ergonomic, and cost-effective designs.
  • Develop detailed CAD models and engineering drawings for all key components, optimizing for manufacturability, aesthetics, and user experience.
  • Having know-how about mechanical stress, material behavior, and thermal loads on both body and functional components to ensure safety, integrity, and compliance with standards.
  • Support prototyping, testing, and validation processes for all parts, addressing any design issues and implementing necessary improvements.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, new materials, and technologies to continuously improve product quality and performance.
  • Ensure the seamless integration of structural, functional, and accessory parts into the overall refrigerator design while adhering to Midea’s consumer-centric vision.
Your profile
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in structural design, preferably within the home appliance industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) for design optimization and analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of materials used in refrigerator manufacturing, such as plastics, metals, and insulation materials.
  • Experience designing both structural and functional parts with a focus on usability, durability, and manufacturability.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Fluent in English; German language skills are an advantage.
  • Innovative mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
